Pre & Post HUD 1976

Pre-HUD & Post-HUD refers to the description of a Mobile Home that was built before or after June 15, 1976.

In August of 1982 HUD changed the description of a Mobile Home that was Manufactured After June 15, 1976 to be classified as a "Manufactured Home".
Homes that were built prior to this date are still classified a "Mobile Home".

At Mobile Homes Lending, we can still lend on "Mobile Homes" as long as they were not built prior to 1970. The time frame from 1970-1976 is what we call Pre-HUD and anything built after June 15, 1976 is called Post-HUD.

Manufactured Homes built after June 15, 1976 "Post-HUD" will have a Certification Labels that can be found in/on the home.
The HUD Tag is a metal plate which is affixed to the outside of the manufactured home.
The Data Plate is a paper label affixed inside the home and is the size of a standard sheet of paper. These are normally found in a kitchen cabinet or bedroom closet.
